Morocco Equity Watch | 4th Aug 2015: Morocco equity markets on the rise, MADEX up 0.93%, MASI up 0.84% and Market cap tops US$60.8 Bill…
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco equity markets indices recorded rises today with the MASI index ending the session up and the MADEX up as the Morocco 15 and All-Liquid Index indices also recovered from losses made in previous days trading. Gains in the Casablanca Indices helped to pull up the total Market capitalisation which increased to US$60,886 billion.
The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) rose by 0.84% to close at 9,888.96 from its previous close of 9,723.10 (taking the year-to-date performance to 2.79 percent).
The Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) increased by 0.93% to close at 8,1117.24 points from the 7,971.74 points recorded previously (leaving the year to date at 3.50 percent).
The FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index was also up to close at 8,646.02 points increasing by 0.45 percent from its previous close (-2.82 percent year-to-date performance) likewise the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid index was up by 6.79 points rising by 1.10 percent to end 8,346.62 up from its previous close (to bring the year-to-date performance to a positive 3.54 percent).
The market activity measured as total traded value recorded an increase to MAD 108,733 for the MADEX index and MAD 116,725 for the MASI index.
Out of the 75 component stocks that make up the MASI index, the number of stocks showing a rise increased to 22 while 17 stocks showed a decline and 8 showed no change over the course of the days trading.
For the MADEX the 50 component stocks also registered an increase with 20 risers and 14 stocks that declined with 4 showing no change over the course of the days trading.
Top gainers today were ITTISSALAT-AL-MAGHRIB IB which increased +3.07 percent to close at MAD 121 and Group Alliance which rose +0.18 percent to close at MAD 55.
The five top most Capitalized stocks on the MASI index saw gains to their capital. ATTIJARIWAFA Bank with MAD 21,980 million (gain) for 203,527,226 securities at a price of MAD 360.00. ITTISSALAT-AL-MAGHRIB MAD 20,729 million (gain) for 879,095,340 securities at MAD 115.70, BCP MAD 10,076 million (gain) for 173,141,923 securities, LAFARGE CIMENT MAD 8,450 million (gain) for 17,469 securities and BMCE BANK MAD 7,896 million (gain) for 179,463,390 securities.
With regards to sector indices, the top gainers today were Forestry and Paper rising 3.11 percent to 22.76 points, ELECTRICTY which climbed by 2.94 percent to 1,251.40 points, Telecommunications sector indices which climbed 1.70 percent to 1,759.23 points respectively. Chemicals which climbed by 1.66 percent to 1,188.08 points, and Banks sector indices which climbed 1.45 percent to 12,097.77 points respectively.
On the losers’ side were Holding Companies (plunged by -2.81 percent to 4172.88), Mining (decreased by -1.58 percent to 17,697.78 and Materials, Software and Computer Services which fell by 0.38 percent to 484.78 points.
